What is Clofert 50 mg

Clofert 50 mg, commonly referred to by its active ingredient Clomiphene citrate, is commonly prescribed to women suffering from female infertility in order to induce ovulation and facilitate conception. This comprehensive guide offers essential information about Clofert 50 mg including its mechanism of action, indications, dosage, potential side effects and precautions.

Mechanism of Action

Clofert 50 mg belongs to a class of medications known as selective estrogen receptor modulators (SERMs). It works by stimulating certain hormones in the brain and in turn trigger the development and release of mature eggs from ovaries.

Clofert 50 mg is prescribed to women suffering from an irregular menstrual cycle or polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) to help treat ananovulation, or irregular ovulation.

Dosage and Administration

* Clofert should only be taken by pregnant women and when symptoms have already developed. Ideally it should not be given during ovulation itself (for example during an irregular menstrual cycle or PCOS).

 * For optimal effectiveness take 1 tablet twice daily at each dose for 5 doses total.

 * To use effectively take 3 Clofert tablets together at once before administration for best results

Potential Side Effects

*Common side effects of Clofert 50 mg may include hot flashes, abdominal discomfort, breast tenderness, nausea and mood swings.

*Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome (OHSS) is an uncommon yet potentially serious complication that may develop during Ovarian Hyperstimulation Therapy, manifested as abdominal swelling and pain, nausea, vomiting and difficulty breathing. If these symptoms do appear it is essential that medical help be sought immediately.

Clofert 50 mg should only be used with caution by individuals with liver disease, ovarian cysts or abnormal uterine bleeding; pregnant women or those who are allergic to clomiphene citrate are advised against its use.

Ovulation prediction methods or monitoring by healthcare providers may be recommended during treatment.

Monitoring and Evaluation

 * Regular blood tests and ultrasound evaluation may be performed to assess response, detect ovulation and adjust dose as necessary.

* If pregnancy does not result after a certain length of treatment, healthcare providers may reevaluate their plan of care.

* Patients should inform their healthcare provider about all medications taken, including over-the-counter drugs and herbal supplements, to prevent potential interactions.
